I’m Samuel — the eye behind SnokuInk Photography, based in Aquia, Virginia. My work lives at the intersection of cinematic storytelling and genuine human connection. I don’t just document what happened; I build images that feel like scenes from the life you actually live.
My journey started with a borrowed camera and an obsession with light. Over more than eight years, that obsession grew into a studio practice spanning portraits, editorial work, events, lifestyle stories, and fine art. From quiet mornings in Stafford to late‑night city shoots in DC, I chase the kind of light that makes a moment unforgettable.
Every session begins with listening. I want to understand what you feel, what you want to remember, and what you want the world to see. Then I build the light, the composition, and the pacing around that — so when you look back at your images, they feel like the truest version of you.
How I Work
The Philosophy
Light First
Every great image is a conversation with light. I scout, shape, and chase it — natural or artificial — until it tells your story exactly right.
Presence Over Pose
The best portraits aren’t posed — they’re discovered. I create an environment where you relax, and the real you appears in the frame.
Detail is Everything
From the angle of your chin to the curve of a highlight, I obsess over every element in the frame. Precision is what separates a good image from an unforgettable one.
Edit with Intention
My post‑processing is cinematic but never heavy‑handed. I enhance what’s already there — colour, contrast, and mood — without erasing what makes you, you.
Client First
You’re the subject and the collaborator. I keep you informed at every step — from planning to delivery — so there are no surprises, only results you love.
Timeless Over Trendy
Trends fade. I shoot for images that hold up in ten years — classic in composition, honest in emotion, and confident in execution.

2016
First Frame
Picked up a camera for the first time. Shot family gatherings and street scenes around Aquia. Fell completely in love with the craft.
2018
First Paid Session
Booked my first portrait client in Fredericksburg. Reinvested every dollar into glass and lighting gear.
2020
SnokuInk Founded
Officially launched SnokuInk Photography as a full studio practice. Expanded into editorial and brand work.
2022
Regional Recognition
Featured in Virginia‑based publications. Awarded Best Portrait Photographer at a regional showcase.
2024
500+ Sessions
Crossed 500 completed sessions across 12 states. Launched the SnokuPhoto client portal and fine art print collection.
2026
Still Shooting
Based in Aquia, available across Virginia, DC, and nationally. Every session is still treated like the first one.
